Kenya Josiah

Kenya is a talented figurative artist who employs acrylic paint as her medium of choice. Her work delves into the multifaceted nature of Black womanhood and highlights the beauty in narratives that have often been overlooked by society. Her artwork portrays Black women who serve as reflections of the figures in her community, symbolizing empowerment and self-love. Through her art, Kenya explores the themes of dance, movement, joy, and human connection in everyday life. Drawing inspiration from her Jamaican and Guyanese heritage, her work showcases rich Caribbean colors and is heavily influenced by handwoven textiles, nature, and Brazilian naive art. Each painting she creates is intended as a celebration of culture.
