Georgian Fantasy Print
Artist: Nina Moller of Epochs of Fashion
This illustration was created in collaboration with Epochs of Fashion specifically for the My Beautiful Twisted Georgian Fantasy - an installation at London's Museum of the Home which reimagined the Bedroom of Dido Belle - the daughter of an enslaved African woman and a British Naval officer who was raised at Kenwood House, a stately home in Kenwood House.
This image shows two women, with proud Black Hairstyles - Bantu knots and TWA and wearing Georgian fashion but re-mixed with indigenous African textile prints. If you look very closely, they are playing music by Chevalier de Saint Georges, a prolific 18th Century Creole composer.
Available in A4 and A3
Why it's on The Cornrow?
Getting to collaborate with artists and creatives that we have admired for ages was one of the highlights of working with Museum of the Home on our Beautiful Twisted Georgian Fantasy bedroom installation. Nina is an illustrator extraordinaire who has been committed to being diverse in her representation of different Epochs of fashion. She did Bridgerton before Bridgerton if you like and we love her for it.

Epochs of Fashion is a wonderful fashion and costume illustrator from Germany - be sure to follow her on Insta to see her latest art pieces. She paints history with a colour blind approach often including Black and Brown women in her historical aristocratic fashion imagery. She kindly collaborated with The Cornrow to create an art piece for the installation "My Beautiful Twisted Georgian Fantasy" which recreated the bedroom of Dido Belle a mixed race daughter of an enslaved woman and a British Naval officer who was raised in Kenwood House in Hampstead.
